Being found online is key for getting leads that turn into deals. However, many professionals are content to have an online presence and do not work on getting higher placement in search results. While we are a new site, and still not at the top, we are diligently working on our strategy and we will be there. Along the way we have learned a lot and are happy to share what we have learned.
Tip 1. Keywords are important, very important.
Search engines look for keywords that signal the most relevant content to show searchers.
So how do you know what keywords to use? The ones that searchers are using. Keywords such as “real estate (area)” and “(area) apartment for sale” are good starting points. Are you an estate agent in Beirut with a lot of apartments in Achrafieh? Then use a combination of keywords such as, “Beirut Real Estate” and “apartments for rent in Achrafieh. Be sure to include more generic terms as well such as “Beirut home sales”.
Once you have determined which keywords are important to your audience use them in your page titles, and text. However, Google will blacklist for keyword stuffing so go slow. And we mean research keyword stuffing before you get started. It’s an art so please do not overdo it. Google will find out.
Tip 2. Keep your website active with a blog.
Blogging has so many advantages and in this part of the world, there is still a tremendous opportunity to get ahead through blogging (HINT). A regularly updated blog (and we mean weekly updates) can do the following:
- Give you a boost on Google because Google likes new content
- Give you the ability to show your expertise
- Give visibility on social media sites such as Facebook
Your blog allows you to express yourself. Make sure to include contact information on each blog and ideally have a call to action. For instance, we at listaproperty.com are looking for guest bloggers to share information about their local market. If interested please contact us at email@example.com. Include Guest Blog in the subject line.
Tip 3. Your clients might be finding you on a Smartphone or tablet.
According to research in the states, almost half of all connections to the Internet are made from Smartphones. So what does this mean for agents, brokers and developers? It means you need a mobile friendly site with the following:
- Easy to use inquiry forms- make it is easy for a client to give you contact information
- Your name and contact information should be easy to find
- Text and photos that make content easy to use
Tip 4. Google likes video material.
Include video on your website. Find relevant content and put it in a video format. It’s an easy way to get an extra boost from Google.
Tip 5. Link to other sites.
Google awards authority and a good way to show your authority is through backlinks. Now don’t link to every site but link to other sites in your industry with good content and that are reputable. A backlink is simply a hyperlink from content on another website back to your site. Remember we asked about guest bloggers? This is a great way to share a link on our site and get a link back to yours.
