Your annual leave has been approved, the kids are super excited about traveling and your family back home can’t wait to see you again! Sure, you have everything taken care of – the shopping, bookings, travel itinerary- but what about the house you’re leaving behind? Have you ever thought of renting out your house as a holiday home? If you’ve seen The Holiday (2006) starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, you know what we’re talking about!
Let’s get straight to the point. The truth is that in this part of the world, it is still an alien concept of renting out your home when you’re traveling out of the country. But for those living in Dubai, have we got great news for you! DTCM, Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, just announced that home owners in Dubai can now officially rent out their houses as holiday homes by using the services of licensed operators. This development follows the issuance of Decree No. 41 of 2013 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and the Ruler of Dubai.
This move will help in accommodating the massive influx of tourists to Dubai in the peak seasons. And with the World Expo just a few years away (the preparations are already in full swing in the Emirate!) it will attract more tourists and visitors. But what does this mean for the home owners, you ask? This means you can make money while holidaying! Not only will you get help with the finances, it will also help keep burglars away from your property for your vacation duration.
If you or your company intend to work as licensed operators, just log onto Dubai Tourism’s website and fill out the ‘Initial Approval Requirements for Holiday Home’ to get started.
We look forward to happy tourists, happy residents, and a shining Dubai! 😀
