Most real estate agents and brokers know the importance of optimizing websites for SEO. People looking for property online must be able to find you online. In the competitive market of online real estate every little step counts. And one thing you can do- to literally stand out from the crowd is to optimize your photographs. Spend the time to do these steps and take advantage of the increased traffic (inquiries) to your site.
Don’t use okay photographs. Use amazing photographs. We preach on this one all the time. Really great photographs sell a property. Not just kind of okay these will do photos. Amazing photos will, at the very least, get you a scheduled showing (and from there you have a potential client). Furthermore, you have more chance of someone tweeting, sharing your listing to facebook, posting it pinterest, etc. if you have great photos. Please use the maximum number of photos and use a professional photographer if need be. No, smart phones are not professional photographers.
Give your photo a keyword rich name. 127364.jpg is not an example of this. A strong name would be Zamalek Apartment for Rent with Modern Kitchen. You want to use a combination of keywords and geographic terms. Princess Tower Dubai Apartment for Sale with Marina View. Give each photograph a rich name such as this. Do this before you upload the photograph.
Alt Text. When adding listings take advantage of the Alt text. When you see a photograph you automatically know what it is – “That’s a picture of an apartment for sale in the Burj Khalifa.” However, search engine spiders aren’t able to recognize photos. But you can easily tell the spiders what the image is simply by using alt text. So post your photo that is titled “apartment-for-sale-burj–khalifa-with- gourmet -kitchen.jpg” And use the following: alt= “burj khalifa apartment for sale with gourmet kitchen.” Simple yet effective.
Use watermarks sparingly. Watermarks are great as they can protect photographs as yours and send potential clients to your site. However, don’t use them diagonally across the entire photo. This only blocks out the great photography you did in step one. Use them sparingly at the bottom at your photograph.
Do not try to keyword stuff. Are you tempted to use lots of keywords for even better results? Do not do this. Google knows the tricks and this could get you black – listed. Use keywords and titles that read normally when spoken and you should get en edge above the competition.
