Moving from new place that you would be calling home gets many of us under major stress and usually ends with us having unusual and unnecessary tantrums, or with us getting physically and emotionally drained faster which ends with us overstressing over everything and not enjoying this exciting life experience. This is the time where you should relax and take it easy, to not drive yourself or the movers insane. Moving from one house to another is unfortunately most of the time not enjoyed and something we don’t take pleasure in, which is a shame since it’s a major life event that should be embraced and remembered. There are endless things to think about and take into consideration when you’re moving houses, yet only a couple that should be seriously well thought of and planned ahead. To provide everyone with only the essentials we list only the most important ones that play a major role when moving from one home to another.
Start with organizing, documenting and planning. Even though many people may think that these stages are not as important as they may seem, you should beg to differ. These stages come even before the moving process starts; they’re crucial in shaping and making the moving process either easier or harder than it may actually be. For starters, we all know that we don’t use all our belongings or furniture in our houses, take the time to actually decide on what you would want to move with you to the new home, and what would you like to leave behind. This is the perfect time to actually leave behind anything that is old, give it away, or just simply get rid of it. As you wouldn’t want to trouble yourself with taking something that is already broken, or would make your house look old.
After getting rid of all the things that you would you wouldn’t want to take it with you to the new house, arrange and divide all your furniture according to their new designated rooms. After doing that start documenting all your valuable pieces to avoid losing anything or leaving anything behind. While doing all this, remember to keep all-important papers, jewelry and belongings with you at all times.
Before you start contacting the movers start preparing a first night box. Instead of rummaging and going though all your boxes as you get to your new home and messing everything up, plan a first night box that would include all the necessities that you would usually use daily. This would usually only take a couple of minutes to get done, yet still many people forget about it and end up having to fumbling through all boxes after a long day. First night boxes are usually your hygiene products, basic home maintenance supplies, and some food & drinks.
After you’re done with all the pre-moving stages start contacting a moving company, to help you with moving your big furniture pieces, and anything that you wouldn’t be able to wrap well. Basically, leave anything you wouldn’t want to get scratched or broken to be wrapped by the professionals, such as art pieces or chandeliers; movers would also supply you with all packages & boxes, and essentially be faster at wrapping and packing. However, you should still photograph all valuables before you allow the movers to pack them up, to make sure that all your valuables are returned, and in their good shape. There are numerous house moving companies that could help you out with all of that, if you would only give them a call a couple of weeks or sometimes days prior to the moving day.
Finally, before you start with the moving process you should have created in advance a checklist with all the numbers that you should be contacting to inform them that you’re moving houses, and changing numbers if so, which would mostly be TV broadband and phone services.
After finishing all these stages you would automatically feel less stressed out and more enthusiastic for the move, therefore get them over with, relax and enjoy your move. If you would like to know tips that will help you after you finish moving to the home read our next week’s blog.
